Ohio State Head Men’s Swimming Coach, Bill Wadley, focuses on the backstroke turn. This video works on concepts of the backstroke turn to ensure proper foot placement in the middle of the cross, as well as proper streamline push offs.
The video works on the usual 3 arm strokes from the flags into the roll and tuck with the feet placed against the wall. The drill stresses that proper backstroke foot placement places the feet in the middle of the cross to maintain a straight line streamlined push off. It is critical that the swimmer take the exact number of strokes into the turn to maximize the turn position and foot placement.
