Achieve Greater High Jumps with the Hip Penultimate Drill!

By dustin.moscoso - Last updated: Tuesday, July 1, 2014 - Leave a Comment

John Gartland of Indiana State University offers a simple drill to improve your athlete’s penultimate step, knee drive, and arm movement. Gartland walks you through the coaching keys to the drill and his athletes demonstrate how the drill should be performed.

Hip Penultimate Drill

The drill is performed when the jumper takes a very short approach to the pad and uses a high knee drive to propel themselves up onto the pad, minimizing the impact on the athlete’s legs.
