In this segment, former NCAA Champion at Oklahoma State, Zach Esposito, demonstrates the finer points of his spiral ride. The goal of the ride is to get as much weight on top as possible. The success of the ride is essential because the bottom man must be kept on the mat and controlled before the top man can work for a fall.
To gain an edge on inside position, Zach begins with a reverse cup on the elbow and begins to put weight on the opponent before the start, he puts as much chest pressure on the opponent’s back as allowable. Notice that Zach is off of his knees and his head is on the far side as he drives with the legs and applies pressure with the shoulders.
