Pope is the Melbourne Vicentre Swimming Club Head Coach and has been an Australian Olympic and National Team Coach since the 2000 Olympics.  Pope has been named “Victorian Swimming Coach of the Year” nine times since 1998.  Ian was awarded the 2006 “Vicsport Coach of the Year” across all sports as well as the 2003 & 2004 “Australian Swimming Teachers and Coaches Association National Swimming Coach of the Year.”
