Stanford Women’s Water Polo Team Ranked #1!

John Tanner, Stanford University’s head water polo coach, has guided the Cardinal to a #1 ranking in the Varsity Top 25 poll.  The Cardinal are 7-o this season and claimed their first Stanford Invitiational title since 2003.  The Cardinal beat #2 ranked USC and #3 ranked California 10-7 in the tournament.

In 2009, Stanford claimed thrid place nationally and finished the season with an overall record of 26-4. That record included a 6-1 mark in MPSF play, good for second in the conference. The Cardinal also reached the championship game of the MPSF Tournament before falling to eventual champion USC.
