Iowa State head volleyball coach, Christy Johnson – Lynch, has been honored as the 2009 Asics / Volleyball Magazine National Coach of the Year by the publication. Johnson – Lynch, who is 105-58 in five years, has orchestrated one of the most impressive turnarounds in volleyball history. In 2009, ISU won a school record 27 matches and went 17-3 in Big 12 play to finish second in one of the nation’s toughest conferences. The Cyclones advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the third year in a row, making them one of just eight programs in the country to reach the third round in three consecutive seasons. She was also named Big 12 Coach of the Year and American Volleyball Coaches Association Central Region Coach of the Year.
