Randy Waldrum has guided the Notre Dame women’s soccer team to the semifinal round of the 2009 NCAA Women’s College Cup. This is Notre Dame’s fourth consecutive appearance at the event, and its fifth in the past six seasons. The Irish (21-3-1) have advanced by defeating IUPUI, Central Michigan, Oregon State, and Florida State. The semifinal match will be a repeat of the 2008 championship match with the Tar Heels of North Carolina.
The 2009 national runner-up, Point Loma Nazarene, is ranked #2 in the 2010 NAIA Baseball Preseason Top 25 Poll. Joe Schaefer, Point Loma Nazarene’s Head Coach, guided the Sea Lions to a 43-11 overall record in 2009 and won both the GSAC regular season and tournament championships. The Sea Lions were unbeaten in three games at the NAIA Opening Round Tournament.
