NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Tournament Set

The NCAA Division I Volleyball Committee announced today the pairings for the 2009 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship.  The first and second round matches will be played at 16 campus sites, the regional rounds will be played at four sites (Gainesville, Stanford, Minneapolis, and Omaha), and the regional winners will advance to the semifinals and finals hosted by the University of South Florida and Tampa Bay Sports Commission at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, FL.  Good luck to all programs!

Brew, Lee University Ranked #5 in NAIA Baseball Poll!

The Lee University baseball program, led by Mark Brew, is ranked #5 in the 2010 NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll, recently announced by the NAIA.  Defending national champion Lubbock Christian University (TX) will begin the season at #1, followed by national runner-up Point Loma Nazarene (CA), Oklahoma City, and Southern Poly State (GA).




Meharg Guides Maryland Field Hockey to Runner-Up Finish!

Missy Meharg, Tjerk Van Herwaarden, and Marybeth Freeman guided the University of Maryland field hockey team to a runner-up finish in the NCAA national tournament.  The Terps fell 3-2 against a strong North Carolina team who scored with less than a minute to play. 

Maryland finished with a 23-1 record, the most wins in program history!  Over the course of the season, the Terps broke five school records along with an ACC and a NCAA tournament  record, and tied another NCAA Tournament record.




Maryland Faces North Carolina in Field Hockey Finals!

The top-seeded Maryland field hockey team, coached by Missy Meharg, Tjerk Van Herwaarden, and Marybeth Freeman, advanced to its second consecutive NCAA national championship game with a victory over #4 Princeton.  The 2008 NCAA champions are 23-0 and are looking for their seventh national title when they meet North Carolina on Sunday.
