Florida Softball Named Easton Team of the Year!

The University of Florida Softball Program was named Team of the Year by Easton Sports, Inc.  Congratulations to Tim Walton and his program on an outstanding season.  The 63-5 overall record is the second-best in Florida history.




Chris Bono Joins Jackson’s Wrestling Staff at Iowa State!

Iowa State head wrestling coach, Kevin Jackson, has announced that former Cyclone assistant coach and NCAA champion Chris Bono will join the Iowa State wrestling staff as an assistant coach.  Bono comes to ISU from Tennessee-Chattanooga, where he’s been the head wrestling coach for the past three seasons.  His teams have won three Southern Conference titles and he was the league’s Coach of the Year three times.

Florida Softball Ends Season as WCWS Runner-Up!

The #1 ranked Florida softball program finished the 2009 season with a 63-5 overall record and were the WCWS Runner-Up.  The 2009 team set 39 records during their first-ever run to the WCWS championship series.  Led by Tim Walton, Florida ended the season with a .323 batting average, a .543 slugging percentage and a .423 on-base percentage (all bests in the program’s history).  Three Gators recorded eight single-season records, including runs scored, home runs, and slugging percentage.
