The quest to the Men’s College World Series will begin today. 64 NCAA Division I programs will compete for eight spots at the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. The series will be played June 13-24. Good luck to all programs, including:

Brad Stevens is the men’s head basketball coach at Butler University. In two seasons at Butler, Stevens has led the Bulldogs to a 56-10 overall record, two regular season conference championships, one conference tournament championship, and two NCAA tournament appearances. Stevens is the 3rd youngest head coach in NCAA Division I history to lead a team to a 30 win season and was named the Horizon Coach of the Year in 2009.
Hal Wissel is a former NBA assistant coach and collegiate basketball coach. Wissel compiled more than 300 victories while coaching at Florida Southern, Fordham University, Lafayette College, The College of New Jersey, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He’s been named National Coach of the Year by the NABC, Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year, and was inducted into the Florida Southern Athletic Hall of Fame and the Sunshine State Conference Hall of Fame.
Mark Brew, Head Baseball Coach at Lee University, guided the Flames to the 53rd NAIA World Series in Lewiston, ID. The Flames finished 3rd overall and completed the season with a 53-14 record. Lubbock Christian, ranked #1 almost the entire season, battled back out of the loser’s bracket an defeated Point Loma twice to win the 2009 World Series. Lee’s two losses in the tournament were against Lubbock Christian and Point Loma.

Bill Deeis an assistant football coach at Christopher Newport University. Previously, Dee was the head coach at Phoebus High School (VA), where he led the Phantoms to four state titles in the last eight years. Dee posted an overall record of 243-76-1 (.761 winning percentage) during his 24-year tenure at Phoebus and guided the Phantoms to nine district championships and seven regional championships.
Corby Meekins is the head football coach at Westfield High School (TX). Meekins has guided the Mustangs to five straight playoff births and holds an overall record of 52-11. Coach Meekins won the Touchdown Club of Houston “Coach of the Year” award in 2004, was 1 of 7 finalists’ for the Adams U.S.A. “National Coach of the Year” award in 2005, and was named District “Coach of the Year” in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007.

Tim Walton and Mike Candrea have guided their programs to the 2009 NCAA Softball College World Series! Walton led the #1 seeded Gators through the Gainesville Regional and Super Regional with a 5-0 record. The Gators hold a 26 game winning streak and enter the CWS with a 60-3 overall record. Candrea led the Wildcats through the Louisville Regional with a 3-0 record and the Stanford Super Regional with 2-1 record. The Wildcats enter the CWS with a 46-15 overall record.
The first round of the 2009 Women’s College World Series will be played at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, OK. The match-ups include:

#4 Alabama vs. #5 Michigan
#3 Washington vs. #6 Georgia
#10 Arizona State vs. Missouri
