North Carolina State women’s basketball coach, Kay Yow, passed away on Saturday. Yow, 66, fought breast cancer 20+ years as she was first diagnosed in 1987.
Yow spent 34 years with the Wolfpack and compiled a 737-344 career record. Despite having been diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987, Yow guided the U.S. Olympic’s women’s team to a gold medal in 1988. She compiled four ACC tournament championships, 20 NCAA tournament bids, and reached the Final Four in 1998. In 2002, Yow was inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame.
