Every Hundred Years - The Cubs Quest to the World Series

Filed September 19, 2008 at 2:14 pm under Baseball by nate.landas

Is there enough magic left in the 2008 baseball season for the Chicago Cubs to end their 100-year championship drought?  Two brothers-in-law certainly hope so, and not just because they’ve each waited patiently for 40 of those 100 years.  Amherst (WI) resident Phil Doll is entering his fourth year of battling Multiple Myeloma.  His brother in-law, Ames (IA) resident Rick Brimeyer, is writing a book on his experiences as a fan during the 2008 anniversary season.  Brimeyer is self-publishing the work, entitled Every Hundred Years…A Typical Cubs Fan Chronicles an Atypical Season.  Proceeds from the project will be donated to Doll, a father of four and devoted Little League coach.  Both understand that the success of the project hinges on how well the Cubs finish, and that history isn’t exactly on their side.
