Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks overcame a nine point deficit with 2:12 left in regulation to win the 2008 NCAA Division I Basketball Championship. Kansas’ Mario Chalmers hit a game-tying three pointer with 2.1 seconds left to send the game into overtime, where it was all Jayhawks. Kansas controlled the extra period and defeated Memphis 75-68 for their first NCAA Championship in 20 years! This is Coach Bill Self’s first NCAA Championship while the University of Kansas has won a total of five national championships. Kansas ends the 2007-08 season with a 37-3 record.
