As Diericx explained, there are three options to guard against each time the ball is snapped.

“It’s not an ordinary offense where a quarterback can drop back and you know what’s going to happen,” Diericx said. “In this offense, the quarterback can either hand it off to the fullback, run it himself or pitch it outside. As a defense, you have to take care of three things. It really puts the defense in assignment conflict.”
