with Mark Perry,
University of Illinois Associate Head Coach;
2013 Amateur Wrestling News Division I Assistant Coach of the Year;
former Cal Poly State University Co-Head Wrestling Coach;
2x NCAA Champion and 4x All American at the University of Iowa

Learn to wrestle out of bad positions instead of giving up easy points.

Two-time NCAA Champions Mark Perry breaks down techniques from the defensive position. These advanced techniques will give your wrestlers opportunities to turn bad situations into positive points.

Coach Perry's instruction focuses on two areas:

  • The Crack Down - Use the crack down to counter a high crotch or any situation where your opponent has his head inside. Perry shows how to force the opponent to the mat and how to get a takedown using a roll through or cradle technique.
  • The Funk Cradle - The funk cradle technique is an effective weapon when you're opponent is in on your leg. Perry shows the funk cradles versus the low single, sweep single and high crotch.

Known as a pinner in college, Perry also shows how to use these techniques to get the fall.

In addition, you will see how to use the whizzer in a scramble situation.

In time, you will learn to take advantage of bad situations. Long and flexible, short and strong and everywhere in between, these moves will help you make the most of bad situations.

Mark Perry tells you how to get better from scramble positions and how he practices these positions. He really only shows a couple of moves, slipping the shoulder on a crackdown and stepping over a single to a cradle.
