Features & Benefits Improve your Wrestling coaching!Learn from Dennis Hall!Take your team to the next level!Learn from the best, to become your best! with Dennis Hall, Head Coach for USA Wrestling's Greco-Roman program at the U.S. Olympic Education Center at Northern Michigan University;2011 National Wrestling Hall of Fame inductee;1996 Olympic Silver Medallist, 1995 World Champion, 1994 World Bronze medalist The Russian Tie series is an excellent move that wrestlers at any level or weight class can use to score points. The Russian Tie presents two benefits for wrestlers: First the opponent is constantly on defense thus cannot stall from this position. Second, it is a control position that allows your wrestler to move his opponent into position to score. Hall begins by discussing the important keys to a successful Russian Tie, covering grip, stance, movement, head position and footwork. From there he covers six different set-ups that can be used to hit eight different takedown techniques, which Hall also discusses. The takedown techniques covered include the single, double, snap down, firemans, and hip toss, which he used successfully to win the World Championships. Hall also presents a variation of this successful set-up, the Reverse Russian Tie, complete with five different takedown techniques that can be hit from this position. Hall closes with two key defense to stopping the Russian Tie. This is an excellent change of position tie-up that allows your wrestler to save his strength while moving his opponent into position to score. 48 minutes. 2002. Ratings & Reviews Russian Ties: Creating An Angle on February 25, 2019 Currently 5/5 Stars.5/5 Stars 5 by Anonymous Great set of videos. Lot of good information about just getting a Russian, which I found valuable. All the moves were great. I enjoy listening to Dennis explain things. My favorite video was at the end of the reach around video when he starts discussing about how to play off the defense the opponent gives you. I think that is key. Great video. The focus is on basic take-downs: singles, doubles, snap downs, fireman's carry, sag headlock. He doesn't show fancy Greco takedowns or the inside trip but sticks to the high percentage stuff. My only real complaint is that I wish he had a more in-depth discussion on how to deal with the most common counters. There is also an interesting section on what he calls a "Reverse Russian" position, which looks similar to a lateral tie but with both hands on his one arm (chest to chest, head to the outside). 2 of 2 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful? Yes No Russian Ties: Creating An Angle on March 6, 2013 Currently 5/5 Stars.5/5 Stars 5 by stephenglawson586 Coach Hall, breaks down the Russian and shows the little intricacies that really make it work. On a High school and college level, if you can work the Russian the way WC Hall does, you can be a dominant wrestler on your feet without putting yourself in danger as alot of wrestler do. 2 of 2 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful? Yes No Russian Ties: Creating An Angle on April 1, 2012 Currently 5/5 Stars.5/5 Stars 5 by Coach T As stated before, Coach Hall gives a detailed explanation on the fundamentals of a good Russian tie. This is a great DVD to teach you the basics, but Coach Hall does not get into more advanced throws from the Russian tie. However, he does teach you how to implement, work, and reverse the Russian and places great emphasis on the correct footwork of a Russian tie. This is a key ingredient and I am glad Coach Hall stresses this point. A great investment. 3 of 3 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful? Yes No Russian Ties: Creating An Angle on July 4, 2011 Currently 4/5 Stars.4/5 Stars 4 by Tpsmkemk I give this 4.8. Hall does a excellent job in teaching the Russian Tie and its finishes. This is a DVD that you can watch from beginning to end without zoning out--he really keeps its moving and interesting. Only thing lacking is showing some finishes for Greco-Roman. 2 of 3 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful?
