"My son Tim won a high school state wrestling championship and a big thank you goes out to Championship Productions and the Mark Ironside "Sitback Series" Video. This Video provided Tim with technique to escape (the one thing he had struggled with against top wrestlers) quickly from the bottom position. I really recommend this video for any wrestler who's not naturally explosive and struggles in the bottom position. Thanks again!"

Mark Ironside teaches you his "go to" escape that helped him earn two NCAA Championships - the Sitback Series. The Sitback differs from the traditional sit-out in that you are moving back into your opponent, which helps keep your hips underneath you and give you a better chance to control your opponent's hands. Ironside begins by showing the proper starting position, and then breaks down his Sitback, and includes a lesson on how to do a proper hip heist. Once the basics are covered, Ironside shows how to effectively execute the Sitback versus many common situations your wrestlers may find themselves in, including a 2-on-1, underhook, bar arm and more. This escape works well for those wrestlers who don't have that "explosive reflex" off the bottom. Ironside calls the Sitback series "a move that can make good wrestlers great!"

These are the lessons: 1) Bottom positioning to achieve the quickest sitback. 2) Sitback positioning and control so that they can't knock you over easily. I liked his details on slight weight shifts when you are in the sitting position to make it more difficult for your opponent to break you down. 3) Hand fighting and Hand control so that you are able to defend breakdowns & free yourself to escape. He goes over very effective ways to beat the double underhook & the 2 on 1. There is a Question and Answer session from students where he goes into how to fight someone pulling you back, fight crab ride, spiral ride, tight cross wrist, and chicken wing. 4) Hip heist- how to hip heist so that once you do free yourself from their grips during the hand fight you can hip heist and escape. He teaches a very effective way on how to show children the hip heist. 5) Standup as a secondary escape plan and how to hit it from the sitback situation. 6) how to do the head garzone. I am now actually teaching this series to my children. I have got to say it is easily 5 of 5 stars. This is why: As I learn more about wrestling I learn that some escape plans (eg, stand up, granby flips, etc.) are mostly for explosive, fast twitch fiber, strong, well balanced, gymnastic type athletic people. Some of these escapes are not meant as the primary escape for everyone because not everyone will be athletic enough to pull it off. This sitback is a much easier primary escape plan that is just as effective as any other & can still lead to other secondary opportunistic escapes like standing. Yet it doesn't require you to have as many natural athletic attributes to pull it off. As a matter of fact because of this I find that this series is much easier to teach, learn, grasp, and pull off for children. It has much simpler steps to follow and master. It seems so simple that it baffled me at first. I wanted a more complicated system with more obscure answers. But it is simple, plain, easy, effective, and you are able to teach to children of all levels & abilities quickly without requiring them to be naturally athletic and strong. Some of the details he gives are not found on any other DVDs that I own (I own over 100). There is no other better sitback or sit out series on the market & I know cause I own them all. Worth every penny and more. Definitely buy it.

Great DVD for those who simply can't stand up off the whistle against truly great top position wrestlers. Ironside shows great hand control technique from the sitback position and he concentrates on the hip heist, which can get you out of any number of bad positions.

Highly recommended.

I had a teacher that always told us, "It is so simple that it is frightening." That describes this DVD. Some wrestlers are just not that fast on the bottom. This series can cure that.

Excellent DVD!!! He covers all the things you need to know to defend legs. He pretty much leaves no stone unturned in this one. I wish Ironside would do an attacking with legs dvd

Very, very helpful DVD. Mark Ironside definitely covers all possible scenarios that may occur during the series. Trying this in practice, I found the more I did it and got a feel for the techniques and the hand control and the hip positions, the better I was at it. This is now my go-to escape, and would highly recommend it!

If your looking for something basic other than a traditional standup from bottom look at this and Askren's bottom dvd. He shows a few things that really make a sitback much more effective. If you want some ideas on teaching hand control from bottom Mark does an outstanding job. If you don't explode on the whistle this is it.
