High Percentage Counter Offensewith Greg Strobel,
former Lehigh University Head Coach;
USA Wrestling's 2010 Man of the Year;
'03-'04 NWCA National Coach of the Year; 4x EIWA Coach of the Year
When your opponent takes a shot, he takes a risk by coming out of his safe position and exposes himself to be scored upon. Coach Strobel teaches his wrestlers to not just defend themselves, but put themselves in position to score. His counter offense techniques create high percentage moves that win matches. Strobel begins with six different drills to work on counter offense, including the down block, shoelace and shot/reshot drills. These drills not only fine-tune your wrestler's technique, but serve as good warm-up drills as well. He then demonstrates at least three different counter offense techniques for the single and high crotch. In addition he passes along "tricks" your wrestlers can use to score if his opponent happens to get in deep with any of those two moves. Strobel also covers how to turn double-leg defense into points. Once you get your wrestlers thinking they can score, instead of just defending themselves, their odds to score become better.
