This is probably the best DVD I've bought from Championship Production (and I own probably 20+). Many of the defensive DVDs I've seen cover very basic stuff - for example John Smith's DVD (which, don't get me wrong is very good). Those DVDs are good if you are (1) relatively new to wrestling or (2) want to see a very thoroughly broken down dissection of techniques you already know by a noted technician. On the other hand, there are DVDs like Askren's Funk Defense, which covers funk, and Buckley's Scrambling DVD which is moderately funky, but mostly deals with counters once guys are in deep.
Cooperman's DVD is a bit different. He covers a lot of unorthodox defense, but I wouldn't exactly call it "funk" or scrambling - for the most part, these are different variations of counter offense once you've stopped a shot, that is, they go beyond butt drags, front headlocks and that sort of thing. This isn't exactly for beginners, but these techniques are, for the most part, more effective for scoring against quality competition than the basic counter offense, and can be absolutely devastating against guys who are unfamiliar with them - and they probably will be, as I have yet to see them anywhere else.
