Coaches, honing you and your staff's hitting skills for coach initiated drills is imperative to running efficient practices. In this instructional volleyball video, you will learn technically sound and healthy hitting skills and learn how to evaluate and react appropriately to a player's skill level to better facilitate development in each drill. In part one, Gonzalez breaks down the anatomy of a healthy arm swing and his system of presenting the ball to his players. Gonzales then follows with four additional skill set areas including knee slide and barrel roll, side spin toss, underspin and topspin series, and hitting. In each area, Gonzalez shares how to run the drill with proper presentation, how to evaluate the skill set of each player and then follow with another round of the drill. Gonzalez's training system will assist you in running coach initiated drills safely and efficiently while meeting the skill development needs of each individual on your team. This is a must-see for everyone on your staff.

This DVD is not worth the price. While Coach Gonzalez targets his audience towards younger coaches, or coaches that coach young teams, he doesn't give enough suggestions to coaches who already have the basic 101 Drill books. That's not to say that some elements in here are useless, in fact as an experienced coach I found it interesting how he adjusted each drill to individual players and I appreciated that he took the time in between drills to point out the strengths in certain players as well as what he did to push them more.

There were no coach-initiated setting drills in this DVD. I was very disappointed that a critical skill was not introduced here. Setting is one of the more important aspects of the game, simple drills such as tossing to a setter to set to target, or throwing a ball into the net and having a setter break in to get the ball up would have been appropriate for this DVD. Hopefully in his next DVD will will see more.
