In Part 1, Assessing High Jump Talent, Derks describes to you how to identify, test and select athletes with the attributes best suited for the high jump. Part 2 features High Jump Mechanics. Derks presents a step-by-step breakdown of the 10 phases of the high jump. This instruction includes detailed specifics for finding the proper approach. Derks not only shares how to technically execute each phase, he explains the "why" of each phase and includes invaluable coaching tips for how to spot and correct the most common errors.

Parts 3 through 6 include a 12-exercise General Warm Up, an 11-exercise Movement Prep Phase, an 8-exercise Dynamic Flexibility routine and an 8-exercise Running Drill routine that all combine to prepare the athlete for the rigors of event specific training.

In Part 7, Specific High Jump Warm-up, Derks high jumpers demonstrate eight drills that touch on each phase of the jump. In Part 8, High Jump Practice Drills, Derks demonstrates over 20 high jump drills designed to train each technical phase of the event. Part 10 features Training Drills.
