Coach Weir presents an extensive training package for your shot putters!
Following a brief warm-up demonstration, Weir moves into a three-phase shot put lead-up drill progression utilizing medicine balls that assist in teaching both the throwing motion as well as footwork movement that teaches proper leg load and leg drive into the throw. Next, Weir breaks into shot put drills that simulate the foundations of footwork and throwing the shot. With the foundational shot put skills in place, but still outside of the ring, Weir shares his teaching and drill progression for the glide and the rotational techniques. Weir moves into the ring for full throw preparation for both the glide and rotational technique, where he utilizes a drill progression with and without the shot. Weir puts it all together with full, in the ring throws with the glide and rotation techniques.
Weir also shares a brief segment on common shot put errors with tips to correct the most common errors that he feels throwers encounter. Throughout this video course, Weir shares priceless coaching tips that are certain to assist you and your athletes in perfecting the shot put.
