In Part 1 of this three-part presentation, Marty Stern shares his weekly routine for training the distance runner. Although much of the training is focused on Tuesdays ("quality day"), Stern lays out recommendations for each day of the week. Stern includes five specific "Tuesday" workouts. He also shares the importance of alternative workouts such as water running and stationary bike training. In Part 2, Coach Stern reviews the different distance events and offers race strategy for the runner and race strategies for coaching the distance events.
