The Use of the Hands: Playing More Effective Tennis

The power of the modern game has created the need for better counterattacking shots, which necessitate constant use of the hands. Officer has based this video on the fact that all great players learn to play good defense before becoming more of an offensive threat and the hands are the key to playing good defense. Shots including the heavy loop groundstroke, quick groundstrokes, angles, half volleys, and reflex volleys all involve using your hands for better control. Good hands can be developed with proper practice. Officer demonstrates a number of effective drills to practice improving the use of the hands and the proper technique for the hands on each of the strokes is demonstrated. Give your players another edge by teaching them how to use their hands better this season!
