  • Part 1: Begins with a narrative review of the full stroke technique of former Auburn All-American Rada Owen followed by an on deck demonstration/discussion of the components of the freestyle.
  • Part 2: 12-drill progression to build the ideal freestyle beginning with establishing core body position and rotation. Marsh adds the arm movement through single arm drills with rotation. Marsh includes a segment of drills using a front snorkel to allow swimmers to focus on arm movement and rotation without having to add the skill of breathing. Part 2 also includes unique drills that help teach a "_ catch-up" stroke designed to achieve the goal of achieving a "high catch position."
  • Part 3: Marsh uses a telestrator to give a detailed breakdown of both an elite swimmer and a "mid-level" swimmer's freestyle stroke cycle.

Swimming Faster Backstroke

Coach Marsh begins this six-part video by offering a full stroke overview of the All-American backstroke technique of demonstrator, Bryce Hunt and follows, on deck, with a brief overview of the stroke components. In Part 2, Brackin energetically embarks upon 20 drills and variations in a progression to achieve backstroke perfection. Beginning with an on deck demonstration and discussion of how to set the ideal body position for backstroke, Brackin progresses into the water with body positioning and kicking drills. Next, Brackin progresses to arm movement through drills that teach proper recovery and hand placement. Brackin discusses and demonstrates how to gauge a swimmer's tempo and drills that train a backstroker to be able to achieve a desired race tempo (Part 3). Part 4 includes strategies for proper dolphin kickouts and stroke transition. In Part 5, Brackin reviews the aspects of the stroke that were reinforced by the drill progression. Marsh then reviews the full stroke narrating a descending set of 4 x 25's sharing key points to swimming faster backstroke. Using a telestrator (Part 6), Marsh breaks down a stroke cycle offering a highly informative view of what to look for in coaching backstroke.

Swimming Faster Breaststroke

Coach Marsh begins with a narrated full-stroke overview of the All-American technique of former Auburn great, Laura Swander. On deck, Coach Marsh then reviews the overall technique components for swimming faster breaststroke. Marsh breaks down the breaststroke kick sharing four specific drills for kick development and then progresses through 20 breaststroke drills/variations. Included in these drills are: breakdowns of the specifics for the pull phase of the stroke, timing of the stroke, drills that key upon keeping the stroke "focused forward," and drills for teaching and perfecting the pullout. Marsh reviews the stroke in its entirety and then follows with a segment: "Putting it All Together." In this segment, Marsh pulls all of the drill components into the full stroke as Swander swims a descending set of 4 x 25's from 200 pace to sprint pace while discussing the stoke aspects of each pace. Marsh concludes the video with a narrated telestrator breakdown analyzing a complete breaststroke stroke cycle. Throughout the video, underwater footage and slow motion replay combine to greatly enhance Marsh's exceptional instruction.

In Part 2, Marsh calls upon Auburn Assistant Dave Durden who shares his creativity and butterfly expertise presenting seven sequential sculling drills that uniquely transition into a progression of five butterfly stroke drills utilizing a front snorkel. Next (Part 3), Coach Marsh proceeds with six additional fly drills progressively designed to teach a swimmer maximum efficiency with a focus on keeping balance forward. (Part 4) Durden shares three different drills that are regularly incorporated into the Auburn butterfly system. In Part 5, Marsh pulls the stroke components together and narrates full stroke demonstration through a descending set of 4 x 25's from a 200 pace down to an all-out sprint.
