Fitness is Elementary!

In this video Janelle Schumacher focuses on how to incorporate fitness in Elementary Physical Education. Today's physical education calls for every child to be active, and at the same time responsibly training the child to be active for life as it pertains to a healthy active heart! In each of the four sections of this video, Schumacher shares her instruction and class implementation with her students. Section 1: Warm-up activities: Schumacher begins each class with a quick warm-up and demonstrates appropriate warm-up activities that incorporate hand-eye coordination, cooperation, skill development and cardiovascular endurance. Section 2: Class protocol for effective elementary class management. In this segment, Schumacher shares her simple but highly effective management techniques "short words that mean a lot!" Segment 3: Heart rate monitors: Schumacher demonstrates how easy it is to teach and implement use of heart rate monitors at the elementary level. Segment 4: Games and activities for fitness: Schumacher shares with you four different games and activities that promote inclusive activity for all of her students.
