As a young, first year strength and conditioning coach at a Division II University, I found this DVD to be extremely beneficial to the success of my first semester. These DVD’s offer great instruction. The information given is simple, well thought out and to the point. Coach Kagan does an amazing job of explaining each lifting exercise, the benefits of the exercise, and the importance of why a strength coach or athlete may implement a lift into a strength program. The DVD breaks up the lifts into muscle groups and offers a variety of exercises for each muscle group. I used Coach Kagan’s Olympic lift progressions with my teams this fall and I couldn’t be more proud with my athlete’s technique when performing our Olympic movements. Many of my upperclassmen have seen strength gains in these movements now that I have corrected their technique. The embedded material is extremely helpful. I have used this material for periodization. The power points offered on this DVD have helped me plan for year-round strength training programs that are safe and progress my athletes for peak performance nearing post-season play. Coach Kagan does a great job breaking down the different demands from multiple sports and the specificity needs of those sports. My training background is football and track, so the material given on those sports I was unfamiliar with was a lifesaver for me. In the beginning of the DVD Coach Kagan explains that this video is intended for an athlete or coach who has little to no training experience, so at times it can be a bit slow. I found it helpful at times to comprehend and digest some of the things mentioned on the video, as I would write my workouts at the same time. I would recommend this set of DVD’s to all athletes and any young strength coach who needs guidance to running a smart and effective strength program. Also to any high school coach or parent who plans to help train young athletes.
