He also explains the 1-4-1 offense, which allows every attacker and midfielder to take advantage of the defense by confusing the opponent and forcing mismatches, improving scoring opportunities. This tape guarantees an improvement in your team's offense at any level of play. Coach Seaman provides two offenses and 27 options to help your team learn the most potent and diversified system in lacrosse today!
61 minutes. 2004.
Despite being a bit dated -- obviously Coach Seaman is no longer at Towson -- this video is really an introduction to the motion offense using the 2-3-1 set (using the more common terminology) and the 1-4-1 set. The pacing of the instruction is great for new coaches: Coach Seaman diagrams a concept and then it's demonstrated on the field.
Coach Seaman doesn't really diagram plays, supporting the philosophy that you put players in sets, show them options, and let the players work it out.
While this video doesn't represent the most up-to-date thinking on lacrosse offenses, it is an excellent starting point for new coaches.
Basic offensive concepts for the 1-3-2 and 1-4-1 offenses, if you are a begiining coach this will be great stuff, if you are experienced it might not provide any new information. He does run both a skeleton offense and then puts the defense on the field to give more perspective.
