Jack Kaley: Swarm Ground Ball Pattern & the Hugo Ride

This video is not bad. The editing is actually a little better on this video than it is in some of his other ones. Probably because they got some money from Florida State to help them out. The Swarm GB pattern is interesting, but it seems very risky defensively. The Hugo Ride is good and the drills are helpful. The only complaint I had was that this video was a little on the short side and could have used a little more explanation and drills.

Of his three videos, I would recommend this one. While I would argue that it could have used some editing, it does not take enough away from this video to make it unwatchable, though it can be very distracting at times. Also, the information on the Hugo Ride is minimal. I feel like it is enough for me to work it out on my own during the coming season, but I don’t feel like I could do so if I didn’t know lacrosse fairly well to begin with. It is a starting point video, not an explanation. I would only recommend this portion of the video for experienced coaches looking to add a new wrinkle to their game. Regarding the swarming ground ball pattern, it is different. This is a fairly thorough explanation of it, including drills to implement it. It looks like it will be highly effective, easy to install, and effort based. Buy this video for the swarming ground ball pattern. Again, it could have used some better editing of this section, but it is not awful.
