Coach Van Arsdale delivers the four key cornerstones of this high powered offensive machine, and then moves into the responsibilities for each position on the field. Van Arsdale explains how to incorporate the offensive sets within the offense, showing you how the dodge from the top and behind blend into this scheme. Special attention is given to crease play and the midfielder on crease. Van Arsdale teaches skills to each player to guarantee solid ball carrier execution. Van Arsdale also covers skills related to players one and two passes away from the ball in various game situations. Van Arsdale concludes by breaking down game footage showing you numerous aspects of offensive play. Through the drills, core rules and game footage you will understand the secrets and teaching methods behind Virginia's high scoring offense.

It was a lot of talk and chalk board diagrams...a lot. The concepts were pretty basic and because of the length of talking with segmentation, difficult to follow at times. The only redeeming factor was the gmae film break down at the end, then some of the talking begain to make sense. They should ahve explained and shown film. Them moved to the next concept or offensive set.

So, I have almost every other video that this company produces that features Dom Starsia. They are all awesome, so I was excited about this one. I ordered it as soon as I saw it for sale. However, I was shocked when, while watching it, Coach Starsia basically only spoke during the introduction, and the entire rest of the video was done by his offensive coordinator. I sure that the coordinator is a good guy, but he clearly is not the teacher that Coach Starsia has shown himself to be in the other videos. This video is mediocre at best, and at worst it is dishonest. If you played or have coached lacrosse for any amount of time, the video is not going to help you. It does not provide the keen insights that one of the current greats of lacrosse coaching might have provided. Instead, it covers basic offensive philosophies, formations and player movements, all of which only a beginner coach who never played the game would not know. So if you don't know anything about lacrosse, and are looking for a basic introduction to offense, get this. However, if you want to learn something from one of the best coaches out there, something that only a great coach might know, don't bother with this video.
