John Nostrant delivers an all-access look into two live practice sessions as his undefeated team prepares for its next opponent. The first practice is an up-tempo skill development practice. The second, a more focused practice centered on game preparation for their next opponent.

The objective for Nostrant and his staff is to run productive, up-tempo practices and keep everyone involved and sharp. The practices you will see are broken down into a pre-practice segment, stretching, drill work and game prep. Nostrant and his staff teach on both the offensive and defensive side of the field.

Day 1 Practice
Pre-practice work includes offensive and defensive skill work. Shooting progressions, passing and face-offs are incorporated in the offensive skill work. The defensive skill work includes stick handling , blocking, and slide progressions.

After a team stretch, the Fords run through a series of seven drills to perfect ground ball play, transition build ups, scramble situations and more.

Day 2 Practice
Pre-practice work includes shooting and slide progressions on the offensive end and ground ball play, blocking, stick handling, and footwork on the defensive end.

The Fords run through two drills and use the rest of the practice practicing their man and zone offense 6-on-6. These drills are used as game prep by switching up the offense and defense and providing different looks for both sides.

The practice ends with man up and man down situation.

High School Coaching Academy: Efficient Shooting Drills for Lacrosse Practice

with John Nostrant,
The Haverford School Head Lacrosse Coach,
2011 LaxPower High School Boys Lacrosse National Champion,
2x State Champion, 300+ wins as a high school coach, 2008 Gold Medalist on USA U-19 World Team Staff,
3x All-American mid fielder at Washington College, 2x NLL All Pro
and Mark Petrone, Assistant Lacrosse Coach, The Haverford School

Make the most of your precious practice time using these efficient shooting drills.

In this on field presentation, Mark Petrone provides three steps to choosing the best shooting drills for your team. He lays out the objectives for getting as much skill work done during these drills as possible.

Petrone takes the team through an efficient five drill warm up. Each drill incorporates fundamentals and gives the players shots from different positions. These drills include: passing and shooting on a target, in-tight shooting with a fake, 3-man shooting, 2-shots with a dodge, and 2-shots with an off-ball move. These drills provide a variety of shots, allow for constant movement, and improve shooting technique.

Next, the team practices shots out of their offensive system or set play action. Coach Petrone starts with a drill called the "Island Curl" that works on getting shots on the run from the bottom-up. The next series of drills includes fade shooting, yo-yo shooting (give and go), and finally a figure 8 conditioning shooting drill.

Get a variety of offensive skill work-off-ball cutting, shooting on the run, dodging--each time you take the field using these proven drills!

High School Coaching Academy: Training the Lacrosse Goalie

with John Nostrant,
The Haverford School Head Lacrosse Coach,
2011 LaxPower High School Boys Lacrosse National Champion,
2x State Champion, 300+ wins as a high school coach, 2008 Gold Medalist on USA U-19 World Team Staff,

and Travis Loving, Defensive Coordinator and Goalie Coach, The Haverford School

Train the precision movements your goalies need to perfect to keep the ball out of the cage!

In this "in cage" presentation, Head Coach John Nostrant of The Haverford School walks you through the most critical goalie fundamentals. He goes over position fundamentals in the net, the outlet pass, and footwork fundamentals including walking the line. Nostrant also shares the essential traits and qualities of successful goal keepers.

Assistant Coach Travis Loving demonstrates drills for body positioning and stick positioning. He begins with footwork drills and then goes through a proper warm up. Once the goalies are warmed up, they work on positioning drills on the dodge, behind the net with a dodge, and on the fast break.

Loving then drills the goalies on turns when the ball is behind the net and proper technique.

Moving into game-like situations the goalies work on shots with a screen, feeds to the crease, and outlet passing. Loving concludes with wall ball drills that work on proper footwork and stick movement.

Make game-changing saves this year with these fundamental techniques and drills.
