Join 2010 US National Lacrosse Team Coach Mike Pressler as he provides inside look into three practices at Bryant University.
From the locker room to the practice field this DVD provides an unprecedented look into how Coach Pressler runs his day to day practices.
Each day of practice starts in the locker room where Pressler and his assistants break down the tactical elements of that day's practice.
Day 1: Offensive systems including stepping out from a 1-3-2 to a 3-3 man-up offense, face-offs, 1-on-1 and 4-on-4 drills, rolling, communicating, catching and throwing to both sides, and more.
Day 2: Pick play, working off the ball, shooting and deep clearing, defense, picks, sub box, skeleton for sideline clear, 6-on-6 slide, and more.
Day 3: Zone defense - using the different zones, rolling down field versus up field, 1-4-1 Power set with a roll or carry call, face-offs, scooping, ride clear scrimmage, zone offense/defense scrimmage, and more.
On the field, Pressler begins with a dynamic warm-up that incorporates passing and stickwork. Over the course of the practices, Pressler leads his players through more than 45 drills that simulate game action and emphasize proper mechanics and techniques. These high-intensity drills work on rolling, communication, movement, cutting and more to get your players ready for game speed play and competition.
Through Pressler's insights and practices, you will be able to see just what it takes to build a highly competitive and successful program.
3 DVDs (315 minutes). 2010.
All Access videos are designed to allow viewers from all over the world to see how successful coaches run their practices in a "live" practice setting. All Access videos allow viewers to see the practices un-edited and in real-time. You will see how top coaches run their drills, interact with their team and staff, how they motivate their team, the cue words they use, the atmosphere of the practice and how practices are structured from day to day. Many coaches visit successful colleges and high schools to watch practice. But if you live out of state or out of the country, visiting another coach's practice can be costly. That's why we created the All Access Practice Series of videos -- to bring the practices to you!
These DVD's work as a typical "All Access" in that you, as the viewer, are invited to see a few practice sessions. Though there are some whiteboard and off-field discussions, most of what is shown is on field execution of typical Bryant lacrosse practices. Depending on your lacrosse experience, you may need to hit the rewind button a few times in order to appreciate the depth and detail of the drills your seeing. The more I looked at this DVD the more I appreciate it and the more of its content I have put into practice. Some of the drills as shown are too advanced for my team but the more complex drills I have found to be easily scaleable and therefore easily 'tweaked' to apply to my younger players.
The key value to this set is showing Bryant's motion offence. All these drills are motion orientated and support the motion offence. By adding these into my practices I have been able to provide my players with drills that more closely mimic game speed lacrosse and challenge their ability.
These DVD's would easily be a "5" if more time was given to explaining how the drills work. But again, my opinion may be a function of my lack of experience.
Still, I love this set!!
Mike Pressler is a obvioulsy a great mind in lacrosse, but, he seems to have a hard time translating that to the dvd. I actually enjoyed the prepractice chalk talk with the other coaches more than Pressler. He does have some good nuggets of instruction, they are just hidden in within the 3 dvd's. He had some good drills, but I would recoomend Notre Dame or Virginia more.
