Face-offs are an area of the game that requires dedicated time in every practice.
Blaise MacDonald feels that a team that can win 55 % of the 50-70 face offs that occur in a typical game definitely has the upper hand in the outcome of the game.
Coach MacDonald's five-part presentation features:
In all, you get a total of 18 specific face-off plays, each diagrammed and demonstrated, as well as game and practice strategies that are sure to help your team gain an upper hand in winning the face-off battle over your opponents!
55 minutes. 2010.
In our first game after instruction one of our centres won three straight draws with the slap method.
Really liked the transitions into breakouts and offensive plays.
Well done good intro skill level for face off technique. Face off plays are well designed and present excellent continuity in the defensive and offensive zone. Great center ice face off set up to score and set the tone for the game. i enjoyed the creativity while respecting sound principles off attack and defense. Great content for teams that have 3 or more weekly practices.
Excellent content. The video starts with Coach McDonald stressing some of the key points to being a good face-off player. He then moves on to describe in detail on the white board and on the ice, face-off plays for the defensive zone, neutral zone, center ice and the offensive zone. In all, there are about 20 different plays to choose from.
This is an excellent source for coaches looking to build a database of face-off plays to help your team be successful. Well worth the price.
