Winning with the 4-3 Defensewith Larry Kerr,
Colorado St. University Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator;
Former UCLA Defensive Coordinator;
Coach Kerr has turned UCLA into one of the top defensive football teams in the nation using the 4-3 defense. In his first season with UCLA, the Bruins defense ranked 18th nationally and second in the Pac-10 in total defense and tied for the league lead in fewest defensive touchdowns allowed. In this DVD, Kerr highlights the advantages of the 4-3 defense: Flexibility, the ability to make adjustments to one back sets and to adjust easily to two tight end sets, and the ability to disguise line stunts and blitzes. He covers the seven man front by detailing the base alignments and gap responsibilities of each player. Kerr uses game footage to show the 4-3 using the seven man front versus the flow play, flood play, ace set, trey set, deuce formation, and one back set. Using additional footage, he details the eight man front versus the run and then the pass, highlighting the two-back, deuce, trey and ace sets. As a bonus, Kerr draws up how to defend the spread, option, and Wing-T. Coach Kerr concludes by sharing practice film of the four key drills (run and hit, giant lift tackle, string out tackle, and pursuit drill) he uses in to make this defense effective!

Oakland Raiders (NFL) Defensive Line Coach;
former UCLA Defensive Line Coach
Coach Johnson has a wealth of football knowledge and experience that he uses in this DVD to teach various defensive line techniques and blitz coverages. He has been coaching football for 28 years and in 2003 he coached the ABC-Chevrolet National Defensive Player of the Year. Coach Johnson covers the fundamentals of defensive line play in this presentation and everything he teaches centers around MAP (mental, attitude, and physical). He will highlight the differences in play in seven and eight man fronts and use game footage to show the proper way to deal with pulling linemen, base blocking, pass blocking, screens, draws, one gap and two gap coverages. Coach Johnson will also cover in detail five effective moves to teach defensive linemen to escape blocks. He teaches the guidelines to developing defensive linemen by teaching responsibilities, stance, pre-snap reads, vision, attack, using the hands and feet, escapes, lanes, and rush and react. The final section of the presentation uses actual practice footage to highlight the following drills: Shoot, change of direction, reach, wrong way, step punch, footwork reverse, counter, and power move which will develop your defensive linemen into ferocious pass rushers and stout run stoppers.

Zone Coverages for the 4-3 Defensewith Gary DeLoach,
University of North Texas Defensive Coordinator;
formerUCLA Secondary Coach
Coach Gary DeLoach has over 25 successful years of experience coaching football at the HS, JUCO, DI-AA, and DI levels. In his first season at UCLA, the Bruin secondary allowed just 15 touchdown passes (#1 in Pac-10) over 13 games and led the Pac-10 in pass defense giving up just 200.7 yards per game through the air. In this DVD, you will learn the basic principles of zone and man pass defense. DeLoach highlights the four key principles in zone and man defense that he has taught throughout his career: Defending the field, breaking on the ball, rushing the passer, and defending deep to short. DeLoach emphasizes playing primarily zone or man defense and using the other as a "change of pace" defense. In this presentation, he will show you how to hide your coverages by playing pre-snap defense and making proper reads. Using game footage, DeLoach provides instruction for 2-deep zone, 3-deep zone, halves, quarters, press man, and off man coverages. He also includes reads and reactions versus the run.
