The Double Wing: Offensive Philosophywith Joel Pallissard,
Lincoln Way East HS (IL) Associate Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator;
2005 Illinois Class 8A State Champions
The Double Wing Offense adds flexibility and can manipulate the defense by changing personnel to fit each year. Coach Pallissard defines the Ace Formation - the basic alignment of this offense. Game film is used to illustrate the skills of players at each position. To support the Double Wing, Pallissard uses a statistical analysis to prove its prowess. The offense's philosophy is broken down into seven areas. Keys include stretching the defense vertically and horizontally by the formation, using four receivers and four running backs, attacking 10 gaps vs. 9 gap, predicting defenses vs. formation, using motion, blocking angles and using the shell theory to create illusions. Offensive goals aim at 21 or more points per game with no turnovers. By controlling the line of scrimmage, this offense can be very effective!

The Double Wing: 8 Formations and 4 Motionswith Joel Pallissard,
Lincoln Way East HS (IL) Associate Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator;
2005 Illinois Class 8A State Champions
Coach Pallissard breaks down the eight basic formations of the Double Wing Offense. He begins with the backbone of this offense - the Ace formation. In this formation, the X and Y receiver split the difference between the hash and the sideline and the wings are set two feet right off the tackle. Another primary formation is the spread. This look widens out the wings. The wingbacks split the difference between the tackle and receiver. The Yellow formation is a mid-field or right hash formation. The Heavy Formation is a double tight end formation and is a good short yardage formation. Other formations include the Ruby, Falcon, Red and Blue formations. The motion part of the DVD starts with Rose, based off the Ace formation and is illustrated using game footage. The other three motions are 'load,' 'Roger' and 'Larry.'

The Double Wing: Running and Passing Gamewith Joel Pallissard,
Lincoln Way East HS (IL) Associate Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator;
2005 Illinois Class 8A State Champions
Coach Pallissard covers the teaching points, plays, formations, splits and alignments for the running and passing attack in the Double Wing Offense. Pallissard begins with the trap play by breaking down the hole-numbering system, player responsibilities and blocking schemes. This play and its variations can be effectively run against an even or odd front and is illustrated with game footage. Pallissard also breaks down his "bread and butter play," the 6/7 Power. The wing receives the ball as the fullback kicks out. Using game footage, each player's role is dissected. The wing goes in motion before receiving the hand off. It is key that the center cuts off any penetration. Other plays discussed include the 01 Roll play and the Sprint. Pallissard also includes the 50 protections, which is the short passing protection and requires players to seek and attack gaps in an aggressive manner.
