The defensive line must win the battle in the trenches to stop the run and rush the passer.

In this excellent video, Haley shows you drills you can use to develop complete defensive linemen who can stop the run and rush the passer. With a philosophy of developing linemen through daily drills, Haley explains 12 drills that provide results. Each drill is demonstrated using practice footage first and then followed with game footage to show the results of playing with great technique.

Coach Haley's daily drills follow a progression that concentrates on the feet, hips, and hands. Beginning with stance and start drills, the video progresses through hip explosion drills and finishes with hand technique drills. The video also provides separate drills and explanation to differentiate between stance and hand techniques in passing downs versus run downs.

Run Defense Drills
Using run stopping drills, you will learn how to coach your players to dip, rip, and run to avoid the block, redirect pursuit to find the ball faster, use hands and hips to explode through offensive linemen to get vertical into backfield and develop hand eye coordination to steer opponent to gain maximum leverage to make more tackles.

Pass Rush Drills
In the pass rush drills, Coach Haley adjusts the stance to quicken the takeoff, tightens edge pursuit to shorten distance to the quarterback and the ball, teaches head fakes to help open gaps and emphasizes hand violence to push your opponent off balance. All of these pass rush techniques will help you teach the art of the All-American pass rusher.

This video is great for coaches at all levels but especially high school coaches and above.

Order now and provide your athletes with the same training that created a stellar defensive line at LSU accounting for 39 tackles for loss and 15.5 sacks in 2010.

Secrets to Great Man CoverageSecrets to Great Man Coverage
with Ron Cooper,
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Assistant Coach /Defensive Backs;
former LSU Assistant Coach / Defensive Backs

Ron Cooper delivers a comprehensive approach to teaching the techniques and fundamentals to play bump & run coverage using the motor release. In the motor release, the goal is to keep your body in front of the receiver so there is "no route." Combining the motor release with more aggressive off hand jam techniques, Cooper keeps the receiver guessing on what type of release to use off the line.

Using practice video Coach Cooper takes you from the stance of the defensive back through the motor release techniques in a series of drills. Cooper's emphasis is on the ability of the defensive back to stay in front of the receiver to destroy the timing of the route. Cooper also teaches the defensive back to watch the inside hip of the receiver, this allows the defender to come under control and break hard when the receiver's hips drop. Cooper covers the important coaching points in defending the:

  • Fade
  • Stutter & Go
  • Comeback
  • Slant
As a bonus Coach Cooper discusses Cover 1 and the "indicators" that the free safety and linebacker use to close on the ball. Cooper teaches that the indicators take the free defenders to the ball quickly making the bump & run coverage difficult to pass the ball on. When identifying these indicators, your defensive backs will be put in a position to beat their opponent from pre-snap to the whistle.

This video will support coaches at any level who wish to develop sound fundamental press man technique for defensive backs.

58 minutes. 2011.
