Power Running Game

with Mark Schmidt,
Neshaminy (PA) High School Head Coach

A giant in Pennsylvania high school football, Coach Schmidt has guided Neshaminy to over 80 victories in just 10 years. Making history in 2001, he led the Skins to a remarkable 15-0 season. Running the ball is a very important weapon in Schmidt's program and this DVD shows why. Key elements of successfully running the football are noted as he unpacks his system. The running game is divided between the strong side and the quick side. Tight ends are required to make quick decisions in this tight end oriented attack. Strong side plays include keep and option. Quick side plays are cutback and reverse. Each play also has an action to complement the core action. Running motion is broken down into outside/in, inside/out, and fullback motion. Schmidt effectively illustrates his running game by showing game footage. Each play is accompanied by detailed explanation and features tips and teaching strategy. This DVD proves that an emphasis on the Power Running Game can produce and maintain a winning football program!

'Keep the Defense Honest' - Misdirection Run Attack

with Mark Schmidt,
Neshaminy (PA) High School Head Coach

Running the ball is a very important weapon in Coach Schmidt's successful high school program and this DVD shows why. As a complement to the power running game, Schmidt shares his potent misdirection running game. The first key element of the misdirection scheme is that it keeps the defense honest. Another benefit is its ability to exploit or slow down fast flow linebackers. A third advantage of misdirection is that it forces the back side pursuit to say home. Offense advantages include: Allows for inside cutback run, diversifies your offense to get more people involved and it can be built into the "Check with me Package." Schmidt shares his philosophy in this DVD. Major points of emphasis include allowing a line of limited athletes to succeed, use various formations and limiting the number of plays by increasing the repetition. To clearly define each player's duties, Schmidt covers responsibilities for the quarterback, fullback and tailback. Game footage allows for further explanation and understanding on the finer points of this offense. Coupled with a power game, the misdirection game adds diversity and flexibility that is hard to scout and defend. Use the concepts on this tape to strengthen your offense and win more games with the misdirection running game.

Staying a Step Ahead - 'Answer Each Action' Run Game

with Mark Schmidt,
Neshaminy (PA) High School Head Coach

A giant in Pennsylvania high school football, Coach Schmidt led Neshaminy to a remarkable 15-0 season in 2001. The center of his program is running the football. In 2006, his team averaged an impressive 7.6 yards per carry, but fumbled only five times in 430 attempts and his offense scored in the Red Zone 39 of 43 times. Facing defenses that overplay the strong side, coaches must "Answer Each Action" appropriately. An example is to have a cut back scheme in your power game and hold the defense in there with an exotic, reverse or play action pass. Using a variety of formations, Schmidt illustrates his running scheme with use of game footage. Examples include inside power, option strong, option to open side, option reverse and trips. By using videotape, Schmidt is able to stop the action and explain blocking schemes, player responsibilities and play formations. A special set of clips demonstrates play action, waggle and screen plays that are run with success. Schmidt's presentation targets in on answers that have allowed his teams to score points, score consistently in the Red Zone, and take advantage of defenses. Keep your opponent off balance by answering the challenge on every play!

42 minutes. 2006.
