Linebacker Drills and Techniques for the 3-5-3

While using this defense, Georgia Military College has rewritten the NJCAA records books allowing a total of negative 81 yards rushing during the 2001 season. Coach Burks teaches the drills and techniques that have turned Georgia Military College into one of the premier junior college programs in the country. Stance, agility, reading keys, shedding blockers and tackling are all keys to this punishing defense, and Burks covers them in-depth with on-the-field drills and marker board. Burks stresses the main objectives of any linebacker: reading keys, reacting to the football, and making tackles. He also stresses working with the defensive linemen specifically in the 3-5-3 defense. For defending the pass, Burks teaches pass drops and coverages, along with different blitzes and drills that can be incorporated into the defense.
