Rutgers Coach Greg Schiano gives a presentation on defensive fundamentals that covers several key concepts including tackling and practice circuits. He opens his lecture with an explanation of the three-point philosophy he uses at Rutgers-stop the run, limit big plays, and create takeaways-and then moves on to his methods for enforcing these concepts (smart swarm, tackling, and ball disruption). Each concept is further highlighted with the drills Coach Schiano uses plus game footage that pulls everything together. He also shares drills for ball disruption (sack/fumble, second-man strip, chase strip, mirror throwing hand), showing the circuit used to set up each strategy on the field.

Great session on the fundamentals of a defense. Schiano goes over his 3 keys to a great defense: stop the run, limit big plays, and create takeaways. He supports those keys with drills that will help a team tackle better, swarm the ball, and score on turnovers.
Coach Schiano does a great job of explaning his drills and techniques. He is very clear with what he is looking for and how you can coach it. Great video which will help my team be better in the fall.
