The recent popularity of the Spread Offense has forced coaches to prepare consistently for this offensive attack. To be effective and successful today, coaches must know how to defend and defeat the Spread. Coach Coombs believes that a good marriage exists between the 50 defense and defending the Spread. Playing smaller, faster players is an important part of defending the Spread. Deciding between single and double-coverage against receivers is a big consideration.
