Coach Stern discusses pre-season strategies, beginning in early July with a gradual progression of both mileage and frequency and then discusses the Early Season Phase where he introduces his "patented" weekly training plan that centers on a high stress/high quality Tuesday workout. He provides six specific Tuesday workout prescriptions that produce the desired results of hard quality running. For the other days of the week, Stern offers general concepts as well as specific workout suggestions, including tips and ideas for maintaining a healthy team.
