Vance Walberg has established himself as one of the game's most innovative coaches. In 40+ years of coaching he has developed a creative style of basketball on both ends of the court. In this video, Walberg teaches you his full court defensive system, which he feels is a better innovation than his Dribble Drive Attack Offense. Ironically, this defense is responsible for the development of his popular Dribble Drive Attack Offense. Full court 2-2-1 pressure is the core of Walberg's defensive system of play. Walberg breaks down the court into quarters making it simple to understand and execute the defense. Walberg thoroughly explains and demonstrates each player's assignment and the secrets to making this defense successful. He also shows three zone options in the full court that are generated from this defense. This combination of pressure defense and the Dribble Drive Attack Offense is a proven recipe for winning basketball. After installing his entire system at Clovis West, his teams went 159-18. At Fresno City College his teams went 133-11. Take it from a winner, this system works.

90 minutes. 2008.

This is a good breakdown of an aggressive style of play for full-court pressure. Each position is broken down with rules and responsibilities. IMO anyone can use this system but the teams that have a combination of length, speed, and athleticism will get great results from this.

This is not a Zone Press, and I mean that in a good way!

A complete pressure system, Covers all details of what do to in what situation, I would need a few weeks to implement this successfully, but would be well worth it.

Big time presentation! I love how organized Coach Walberg is in every video that I have seen and this is no exception. Often times in defensive videos you get the rules and general structure and you have to plug in a few miscellaneous details yourself, but everything is covered in great detail here. You can use this more as a zone press or a matchup press as he goes over. I wouldn't use the whole picture because I don't agree with everything, but there is so much information given and gone over that you can still pick out pieces that fit your team and make you a much more effective teacher.

The Best Full Court Press video I have seen, Bruce Pearl Encyclopedia of his 1-2-1-1 is as good, this seems to incorporate pieces of Vivian's run and jump, with traps and a 2-2-1 alignment. Havent used it in season yet, but loved the info.

Not your UCONN 2-2-1 or Wich St either. But if you want some fresh ideas pretty neat concepts. Love his discussion on secondary traps. Only reason not 5 star is might not be for the faint of heart...but fresh idea for sure.

Yes this is not a traditional 2-2-1 press. It's more of a hybrid. But Vance is great in the video. His insights are off the charts good. You have to practice this press every day. If you can't commit to that don't get the video. But if your willing to put in the work this press will change your team. You have to make this your identity. I love it cause it puts tons of pressure on the other team without giving up easy layups. This press will make your team win games. It's almost unfair to run this press at the high school level or lower. Get this video.

This is different enough from a normal 2-2-1 that it shouldn't be advertised as such. It starts in a 2-2-1, but uses man-to-man principles. As such, it really is a run & jump sort of press, rather than a zone. In this system, the first line of defense is responsible for all traps, and everybody else stays back & covers downcourt passes.
I'm not sure why you don't just extend man-to-man full court and tell the nearest person to trap.

This dude is so organized, very good at teaching, and his teaching points are dead on easy to understand. I coach MS girls, and they picked up this system very, very quickly. If you love pressing or are thinking about pressing, this is the video for you!! Absolutely awesome!!

Wahlberg's 2-2-1 is a little different from the more traditional 2-2-1 in terms of trapping but it's also much more aggressive and a better fit for teams that play "run and gun".

walberg describes all positions and assigments well, he is a very good teacher. you will need certain specific personnel for the press to be effective, but if you have them it will work for you. good video worth the $

We have been using the full court defense for two years and it has energized our team into an uptempo "pedal to the metal" attacking team. The players love it and so do the people watching us play.
