NIKE Skill Academy Instructor Kevin Sutton takes you through this demanding dribble, pass and shoot series of drills designed to push players and improve ball handling. The benefit of improved ball handling is poise, ball control and improved "basketball I.Q." Once fundamental dribbling skills are mastered, Coach Sutton introduces more difficult drills that seriously test players' ability. The "One man drills" features 12 drills that emphasize ball control, passing and shooting. The "Two man drills" involve both the primary ball handler and the receiver of his passes. "Three man drills" become even more difficult and demand that players concentrate and communicate. The fast break series incorporates catching and shooting off the break and requires great teamwork. All of these drills can be extended into the backcourt to increase the difficulty of the workout. Continuing to build the offense, Sutton introduces the two cuts, two shots drill. In this drill, the point guard must have poise to enter the offense, feed his teammate and take two shots up top.
