Coach Tom Izzo offers up a plethora of basketball nuggets for running a successful program. Before hitting the floor, he talks to coaches about how to develop accountability with players; this accountability model should be done before the season starts to set the tone for the season. Izzo's on-floor presentation begins with quick hitting plays against the zone. Once taught, these zone looks (Double, Fist down and Special) are executed against a live defense. Also, Izzo shares video highlights against the zone. Izzo demonstrates some of his favorite baseline out of bounds plays in addition to a play for winning the tip and one for losing the tip. Shifting to the defensive end of the floor, he focuses on stance and positioning, as well as the line of the ball concept. Next, the 3-on-3 close out drill is demonstrated and executed on the floor. The drill progresses to 4-on-4 to include defending the flare screen and pin down screen. By adding an extra offensive player, the drill becomes 4 v 5. This drill demands great communication by the defense. Five concepts for guarding on-ball screens are presented. This is a great chance to get inside the mind of a basketball coaching great!
118 minutes. 2007.
This is a the best Champ. Prod. video I have watched. I will be purchasing the rest of Coach Izzo''s video when I can. He throws a ton of stuff at you and you can see why his teams have played at an elite level during his time at MSU.
There is a ton of good information in this one, great value. Coach Izzo goes over a good handful of plays against zone as well as out of bounds and even jump balls and also shows how he builds his defense. You really can't go wrong.
I found this DVD to be very informative and well done. Coach Izzo does a great job of breaking down each play and drill
Good information but it seems like he is trying to put too much into too little time so some of the drills seem rushed.
Comprehensive video. Makes you think about all aspects of the game, and makes you realize that you should believe in your core principles. And, be good at what you do, even if it seems a simple concept.
Great information. Delivered excellently. Izzo is a great teacher.
Agree with all previous posts...some great info, with no fluff to fill the near 2 hours. Some of the plays I had seen before but altogether it is truely a smorgasbord of wisdom...
After watching this DVD by Tom Izzo, it makes me want to purchase his other tapes. His demonstrations are great and very clear. And he covers several different things in this DVD (Defense, Out of Bounds Plays *Baseline and Side Out*, and Zone Quick Hitters).Good Purchase!!
Fantasic quick hitters vs the 2-3. He shows you ways to score in 6 to 10 seconds against the zone. Score that quick and most teams will pull out of the zone quick which is what we really want. Also has the best man defense build up I have ever seen. He goes from on ball to two man jump to the ball to three man deny the cutter to a 4 man shell with rotation. I give this one 5 stars,Coach LeClaire
Have to say this is one of the best I have seen. Lots of good info.
A great video that contains a lot of on court demonstration as well clips of the plays being executed in games. Coach Izzo shared quick hitters that are useful against both zone and man-to-man defenses as well as defensive drills they utilize everyday at practice. It is no wonder why Coach Izzo is so successful, he is a great teacher as seen in this DVD.
