with Tom Izzo,
Michigan State University Head Coach;
Distinguished member of the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame (2016);
3x National Coach of the Year,
2000 NCAA Tournament Champions; 7 Final Four appearances;
7x Big Ten and 4x Big Ten Tournament Champions; 3x Big Ten Coach of the Year

Coach Tom Izzo believes in scoring quickly by pushing the ball up the floor. The numbered break puts each player in a position to score. Izzo stresses that this fastbreak limits turnover and confusion by players. Two- and three-man drills are the first step in building a productive fast break. These drills can serve as a warm-up and are good for conditioning. Other drills include the 3-on-2 drill, which introduces the drop off pass and teaches players to make good decisions at the end of the break, and his all time favorite drill - a progressive 2-on-1 drill. This drill covers decision making, defensive transition and communication. Coach Izzo emphasizes that all drills help players make decisions with and without the ball. All pieces are put together in 5-on-5 full court fashion.

This is a very good video. For any coach that is either starting out or doesn't know how to run a structured fastbreak, this video would is very good for you- so buy it. I think that for coaches who have an idea of running an organized FB, the drills in this video would be common, or very similar to what you already. If you're looking for anything new here, I don't think you will really find it. On my first watch of Championship DVD's, I am always looking at the drills, understanding them, thinking of how or if I can apply them to my team. On the second watch, I always listen more closely to what the instructor is saying, how he carries himself, etc. I haven't watched the video a second time yet, but just off of the first watch there are so many useful things to pick up from Coach Izzo teaching the players on the floor. One thing many coaches at the youth and high school level should always be trying to improve on is how they're teaching their players. Coach Izzo is a great example of how to teach the game of basketball.

I would have to give this 5 star, because I didn't know of a strategic way to run a break other than this. Today's players want to run down the court to fill the 5 points of the 3 point line, and this really gives your team a more cohesive way to play in the open court. The drills are great and love the way Izzo teaches. Definitely recommend for your program and well worth the money.

If you don't like Tom Izzo's tapes, something is wrong with you! Same thing here. Great info, very organized, great progression, great drills, and well taught. I love this tape, and is probably my favorite tape on fastbreak offense.

Izzo has a clear eye for details that make the difference. The way he teaches decision making with a simple drill like the 3on2 halfcourt drill confirms this. When you like to work on creating a succesfull fastbreak you can learn from this DVD.
