Bob Kloppenburg's name is revered throughout NBA arenas nationwide. Pat Riley has labeled him a "Defensive Genius" and Tex Winter credits him as a "Great Mind" in basketball. For 40 years, Coach Kloppenburg has created and developed the "SOS" defense that is now used extensively in the NBA. The unique "SOS" approach is designed to force the offense to react to the defense with intense, aggressive application of these 12 foundational principles. Sessions 1 and 2 deal with building the defense with attention on terminology, drills and teaching points. Session 3 segues into full court defense introducing the "Shadow Presses." These principles will allow you to disrupt any offense because the defense initiates the action and forces them into pre-determined check points. There are 13 drills that highlight the dozen key principles. The "SOS" begins with the Mass Drill that focuses on one-on-one defensive fundamentals. Pressure on the ball and pressure denial one pass away are basic principles taught by Kloppenburg. This one pass denial is called the "Snuggle Denial" and makes entry passes difficult for the offense. Once the ball is pushed to a side, the key is to keep the offensive player out of the middle of the floor and "in the box." The "SOS" handles screens with an aggressive "contact switch." This method is used to disrupt and take away passing lanes. "Smother" is another key principle where a dead ball dribbler is aggressively attacked by his defender. Different looks are possible with the "SOS". The Base Go Red is used when behind and needing to press while the Base Go "I" is used as the fundamental defense. Two surprise trapping schemes, called Red Same and Red Rover, complement the base defense. In the full court, the Up & Back Shadow Trap and Hold are demonstrated. This 3-hour DVD represents the complete package of the "SOS" defense made famous in the NBA. Its principles are adaptable to teams from junior high to the pros. I have been using Coach Kloppenburg's SOS defensive system for three years now and it is the most complete defense that I've ever been around. Three conference titles and one state title can be attributed to this system. It is the "bread and butter" of our program. This DVD is a must for any coach who is serious about making their team into a championship program. I'm an SOS disciple and this defense, if you are dedicated, will be the cornerstone of a successful team.

All coaches listen up! Do you want your teams to become better and tougher? Do you as a coach want to walk into every game feeling prepared? There is no better teacher of Defense in the game than Coach. Coach Kloppenburg's DVD has put the most valuable piece of information in front of you to help you become a better teacher of the game and to instill pride and passion into any program at any level. His attention to detail, progressive teaching techniques and the intensity extracted from players using his pressure defense system make his SOS book and video worth reading and viewing for all levels of coaching. From fundamental 1 on 1 techniques he takes the reader through a full range of coverages culminating in very specific 5 on 5 applications of SOS defense for nearly any conceivable offensive system. His progressive building blocks from 1 on 1 to 2 on 2, 3 on 3 and 4 on 4 exemplify the master educator / teacher that he is. He is truly a master of disruption as his system combines different pressure elements in unique yet compatible and sounds ways

The good coaches know that systems win championships. A strong foundation and complete understanding of the fundamentals gives your players the ability to execute and succeed on any level. There is no better teaching video than Coach Kloppenburgs S.O.S. pressure defensive system. He takes you through the whole, part, whole method for a true understanding of the material. This video is a great teaching tool if only for the fundamentals of individual defense.
