Faced with the daunting task of being a small school with a large school schedule, the 4-1 zone defense was born. This defense is an innovative equalizer when facing disadvantages in size, athleticism and depth. Coach Ricks credits his program's turnaround solely to this disruptive zone. Ricks' defensive package is based on 12 principles that produce confusion and disruption. From these principles Ricks demonstrates more than 10 different strategies that can be thrown at an offense to disrupt its flow. A major strength of this defense is the weak side support it provides. This zone will fluster your opponents as their offensive adjustments play into the hands of this intense, all-out defense. On floor instruction and game footage add clarity to this superior presentation. Your program will compete with bigger, stronger and better teams by creating confusion in their game.
78 minutes. 2008.
This is just a normal 2-3 zone. Nothing that unique. Basically like the Syracuse 2-3 zone defense.
This video is ok if you run a syracuse 2-3. That's really all this defense is. I can see it being a good change of pace, but cant see it holding up for 4 quarters.
Video will help you understand the defense and help you put it in.
