These ideas are reinforced with a handful of drills demonstrated on the court: 4-on-3 Lane Passing Drill, Post Feed and Cut Drill, the 45 Degree Cut Drill, and 3 Spots to 7 shooting drill.

Organizing a plan for practice will minimize unexpected problems and maximize player and team development. Coach Fraschilla details a practice philosophy that centers around 70% of the time dedicated to fundamentals in order to build your players' skills and teach them how to play and compete at a high level. He will teach you how to get the most out of your practice time, gym time, equipment available, and coaching staff. He explains how to talk to parents and how to express want you wish to accomplish for the season for your team and program.

New coaches can benefit from these insights and lay the foundation for a successful program for years to come, while veteran coaches can refine their own program. Tap into Fraschilla's years of coaching experience and wisdom today!

Using drill progressions - drills that build on each other - you can teach one concept after another making it easy for your players to understand.

On the court, Coach Fraschilla takes you through four sets of "build up" drills starting with the defensive stance and working his way up to 5-on-5 man defense - with a 2-3 zone thrown in. These drills develop footwork, defensive positioning, slides, closeouts, helpside positioning, on-ball defense, foot faking, and more.

AAU Coaching Boys Basketball Series: Offensive Skill Development Drills

Featuring Fran Fraschilla,
International Basketball Analyst for ESPN, former Division I college basketball coach (Manhattan College, St. John's University and University of New Mexico), former NABC District II Coach of the Year and MAAC Coach of the Year

Teach your players how to play the game instead of "play the play."

In the game of basketball, it is more important to develop your players skills than it is to develop your playbook. Without the skills, your players cannot effectively run and execute your plays. In this offensive drills video, Fran Fraschilla goes into great depth to help you develop well rounded and fundamentally strong basketball players.

Throughout the DVD, Coach Fraschilla demonstrates the drills using three different levels of players. The different age groups help you see the abilities of kids at all ages and what drills work best at each age level. Most of the drills presented, however, can be used with every level and are truly valuable in the development of your team's offensive skills.

Ballhandling
Coach Fraschilla makes the old school new school by bringing back the art of handling the ball - not dribbling but handling the ball. Your players will learn the basic ball handling drills that helped make Pete Maravich one of the greatest ball handlers of all time. By doing these daily Maravich Drills, your players will learn to get a feel for the ball as well as build their control over the basketball. You'll be able to challenge your players by adding the Nash Passing Series, which will help your players' develop their hand skills with game-ready passing drills off the dribble.

Dribbling
Build your players confidence in their weak hand and strong hand. Starting with team drills, players learn how to control the ball on the move working on various dribble moves. Drills advanced to two-ball dribbling and incorporate lay-ups to build skill in a pressure situation.

Passing & Cutting
This series will help you to control the ball and space the floor so your players can break down the defense and create good looks at the basket. Coach demonstrates various fundamental passing drills - such as two ball passing and man in the middle - to teach your players how to develop a pass fake and make a strong chest, bounce, or push pass to quickly move the ball to a teammate. Your players will learn to pass under pressure against a defense that is looking for deflections.

Many youth teams develop a habit of catching a pass, then standing still, which brings your offense to a stand still. Coach Fraschilla helps eliminate that problem with two cutting drills to help train your players to cut to the open spot looking to score, and the ability to recognize the cutter in open space and be able to make the pass.

Shooting & Footwork
Practice "game shots from game spots." Fraschilla starts with drill that gets the entire team involved that generates a lot of shots, in a competitive format the teaches focus, concentration and teamwork under pressure.

Once your players have built their form, Coach shows you the UCLA Drill - a catch and shoot series that teaches your players to use their pivot foot through five different scenarios. The Box Drills are outstanding fundamental drills for building proper footwork and learning how to attack the rim and pull up for an open jumper. Fraschilla offers up layup drills that challenge the players to go at top speed, get fatigued and still make their shots from all different angles. This gives your players the confidence to finish a play at the basket.

Teaching and building skills at a young age is essential for your program. Coach Fraschilla gives you a playbook of offensive drills to build your players from the ground up, which will help build a successful program. This is an incredible source of offensive information packed into one DVD. Any coach or player aspiring to be their best will greatly benefit from this video.

AAU Coaching Boys Basketball Series: Shooting Mechanics and Drills

Featuring Fran Fraschilla,
International Basketball Analyst for ESPN, former Division I college basketball coach (Manhattan College, St. John's University and University of New Mexico), former NABC District II Coach of the Year and MAAC Coach of the Year

If you are going to build a successful youth program, then you must be successful at teaching the most important part of the game of basketball: shooting.

To build proper form, Fran Fraschilla demonstrates and describes the shooting fundamentals and drills that young players need to develop proper shooting form. Coach Fraschilla divides his shooting fundamentals into four main components: foundation, balance, follow through, and hand technique. Each concept is broken down into segments that are easy to teach and easy for young players to practice and master.

What makes this DVD unique is that Fraschilla teaches the same drills to two different levels of players - middle school players and grade school players. You will see how his style and emphasis is just a bit different for each group.

The grade school section of the DVD contains additional drills that are more advanced so your teams can keep progressing. As a grade school coach, you can easily transition your better teams into the middle school level drills.

To continue developing great form and a consistent shot, players must practice using a great routine. Coach Fraschilla demonstrates shooting drills that he picked up from two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash. He details how to use the Nash Shooting Drills to develop a great shooting routine that will strengthen each of his four shooting concepts.

To further build form, Fraschilla shows you how to develop proper layup form and advance your players' layup skills with his Marist Drill. This drill is great for your youth players and for advanced players who want to advance their skills.

Once your players have mastered shooting form, Coach Fraschilla demonstrates several three-man shooting drills. In Yugo shooting, your players will develop their catch and shoot skills along with proper spacing as they move from one end of the court to the other looking for their shot. In Fly at the Shooter, your players will have to learn how to focus on the rim with a defensive player flying at them.

This fundamental shooting DVD will give you the basic concepts that every basketball player needs to master at a young age. In addition, you will see some advanced shooting drills you can use to continue improving their shot as they master the basic skills.

Win more games by developing real shooters using this incredible teaching tool!

AAU Coaching Boys Basketball Series: Motion Offense

Featuring Fran Fraschilla,
International Basketball Analyst for ESPN, former Division I college basketball coach (Manhattan College, St. John's University and University of New Mexico), former NABC District II Coach of the Year and MAAC Coach of the Year

Fran Fraschilla gives you the basic elements of a motion and press offense that will allow you to pick and choose what you want to implement with your youth team.

Motion Offense:
If the break is not open, Coach Fraschilla gives your players an offense to run to maintain pressure on the defense throughout the possession. He breaks down a simple motion offense into drills, skills, and movements that are easy for your players to pick up and master using the skills they develop in practice.

He builds the offense 5-on-0 so you can easily see the player movements and then runs the motion 5-on-5. Fraschilla executes every motion offense with a post-on-guard screen in order to give you multiple scoring options right from the start. Show your players how to use message cuts to communicate to their teammates if they are open or if they should catch and look for another option.

Coach Fraschilla diagrams and demonstrates a second option for your motion offense using ball screens to attack a defense and create foul trouble for your opponent's key players. Fashioned after the European Ball Screen Offense this continuity system spreads the floor and allows your guys to play off the pick and roll. This is a simple, but very effective offense that merges well with the motion and secondary break. You do not need big post players to incorporate this offense, as it includes backdoor cuts and open drive lanes.

Press Offense:
No offensive system is complete without breaking a press. An organized attack against a full court defense can lead to scores if you maintain spacing and ball control. Coach Fraschilla demonstrates a simple press breaker that will work against a man or a zone defense and easily flow into your fast break options, secondary break offense, or your simple motion offense depending on what the defense is giving you.

Coach Fraschilla is widely known as one of America's most knowledgeable figures on foreign basketball. He brings this knowledge directly to you with this fun and effective "Euro Continuity Ball Screen Offense" that has transformed the world of basketball.

These simple offenses flow right into each other and compliment the fast break and secondary break offense very well and will allow you to maintain pressure on your opponent's defense.

AAU Coaching Boys Basketball Series: Zone Offense and Specials

Featuring Fran Fraschilla,
International Basketball Analyst for ESPN, former Division I college basketball coach (Manhattan College, St. John's University and University of New Mexico), former NABC District II Coach of the Year and MAAC Coach of the Year

Using whiteboard diagrams and on-court demonstration, Fran Fraschilla opens his offensive playbook and gives you a smorgasbord of ideas to build a potent offense.

Power Set
Coach Fraschilla diagrams and demonstrates a Power Set Play you can use against a man-to-man defense. "Power" yields a lay-up opportunity for a crossing post player, flows directly into your motion offense and easily gets to the ball to your "hot" player. This set has similar actions to your motion offense, which will allow your players to easily memorize and understand the actions.

Zone Offense
If you run into a zone defense, Fraschilla's continuity zone offense is perfect for you. He diagrams and demonstrates a zone offense that can be utilized against any zone defense because you are constantly attacking the weakest part of the zone: the corner. You will have plenty of scoring options from the short corner, high post, and wing area with this zone continuity motion offense.

In order to beat any zone defense, Coach Fraschilla shows you how to attack the gaps, "move the basket" with the pass, pass fake to move the defense, and overload to create an offensive advantage. He describes in detail how to perfect each zone concept so that your players can still use man-to-man principles to beat any zone defense.

Inbound Plays and Last Second Plays
Complete your offensive playbook with four simple inbound plays that will keep your opponent guessing every time you run them. Each play includes a step-by-step walk through and a counter and will flow right into your basic motion set making the concepts easy for your players to pick up.

In order to give your team a chance to win or tie at the end of the game, Fraschilla demonstrates two last second plays and one counter you can use to get easy shots with little time left on the clock. Whether it's a full court play or half court sideline play, these specials will give your team the confidence they need to be successful in any situation they face during the season.

This offensive arsenal will prepare your team for anything your opponent throws at you!

AAU Coaching Boys Basketball Series: Fast Break and Secondary Break

Featuring Fran Fraschilla,
International Basketball Analyst for ESPN, former Division I college basketball coach (Manhattan College, St. John's University and University of New Mexico), former NABC District II Coach of the Year and MAAC Coach of the Year

Most AAU/youth teams run more breaks than half court sets. Teaching the kids how to run the break is a key component of any offense. Fran Fraschilla highlights the desire for easy, quick, transition opportunities to be the primary focus of any offensive attack. Via both white board and on court interaction, Coach Fraschilla diagrams and demonstrates the court positioning of the players within the primary and secondary fast break set-up.

Coach Fraschilla addresses the questions coaches need to ask themselves as they prepare a plan for their team. What is your rebounding philosophy? Do you need a screen and roll offense? Do you have an extraordinary player that would benefit from isolations? These and other questions are posed and will help any coach develop a plan of attack.

On the technical end, Fraschilla demonstrates his "Fast Breaks" showing you how to win when your team outnumbers the opponent. His "Secondary Break" options seamlessly flow from the fast break and into both set offenses that he shows.

Fast Break
A fast break sets the foundation for any offensive system because it allows you to get easy buckets. Coach Fraschilla demonstrates how to execute layup options for your wing players and for your post player making a rim run. Incorporate his 2-on-1, 3-on-1, and 3-on-2 fast break build up drills to teach your players to shoot first until the defense commits to stopping you.

Secondary Offense
Learn an organized secondary offense that will allow your offense to flow in a systematic way. This system gives your players an organized offense to run - when the fast break is not open - that runs right into a set. Using white board diagrams, Fraschilla walks you through the steps to build a successful secondary break. Being able to flow from transition into an effective set play helps to take advantage of a defense that may not be fully organized.

Basketball is won or lost by getting the easy shoots. An organized fast break allows your players to understand how and where to go to create easier scoring opportunities.

AAU Coaching Boys Basketball Series: Building Your Team Defense

Featuring Fran Fraschilla,
International Basketball Analyst for ESPN, former Division I college basketball coach (Manhattan College, St. John's University and University of New Mexico), former NABC District II Coach of the Year and MAAC Coach of the Year

Don't settle for a mediocre or soft defense ever again! Fran Fraschilla will show you how easy it is to build a solid man-to-man defense that will pressure the ball and stop dribble penetration.

Coach Fraschilla reveals his secrets to building a strong defensive system by describing in detail the four things any good defense needs. Each concept includes a walk through with players and a break down of the common mistakes. Fraschilla's passion and teaching style makes it easy for any coach to pick up these simple yet important concepts.

Using various 2-on-2, 3-on-3, and 4-on-4 drills, Frachilla shows you how to build your help side defense from the ground up. Teach your players how to help-the-helper and properly rotate to stop dribble penetration. Get help with your transition defense so your team will stop giving up easy baskets. If your team struggles against screens, you will find easy techniques that will help successfully defend screens, especially a UCLA Cut, on-ball screens from the wing, and cross screens.

To add variety to your defensive pressure, Fraschilla details a 2-3 zone defense you can incorporate as a change-of-pace defense. Want to turn up the heat on your opponent? Coach demonstrates three ways to trap out of the 2-3 zone: Half court line trap, wing trap, and deep corner trap. He does an excellent job of showing the rotations and trapping angles that can create quick turnovers and easy baskets. Fraschilla also details an aggressive 2-3 zone that shuts down the gaps and provides a segment on rebounding in the zone.

In order to complete your defensive system, Coach Fraschilla gives you a great Diamond and 1 Full Court Press to produce a trapping, attacking mentality and as a way to change the pace of the game.

If you are getting started building your defensive system, Coach Fraschilla's team defense DVD is a great way for you to develop a defensive philosophy that will give your players a chance to be successful at any level.
