Terri Mitchell: The Aggressive 1-1-3 Zone Defense

Turned out this wasn’t what I was looking for. I needed more specifics on the rotations especially vs a 2 guard front.

Really Thorough Approach to installation and she does a great job addressing different scenarios. Also enjoyed the different versions/trapping they use. I would definitely recommend this to anyone trying to use 1-1-3 for the first time.

I used this defense last season to lead our state in defensive points per game. It helps if you have length at the forwards obviously, but it also helps smaller teams keep the ball out of the paint by either doubling the post or leveling dribble penetration. The breakdown drills are good and Coach Mitchell does a good job at discussing the different ways to cover the corners (the weak spot in the defense in my opinion).

The rotations are so different (and adaptable) that most opposing coaches never figure out how you rotate during the course of a game and therefore have fits figuring out how to attack it. 5 star if you want to win more games!

I was able to use this defense at another school and really was pleased. I had forgotten some of the finer points and after watching the film am really anxious to use it again. Thanks for the quick service.

Very unique defense. Great instruction. This defense is not like the regular 1-1-3 zones that you will see. It is not a regular 2-3 zone and not a 1-1-3 match up zone like the amoeba. It is a combination of both almost, with different slides than any defense I have seen. Great video. I highly recommend it.

Does this go into rotation and details of 1-1-3 zone?

Very good instruction. Mitchell is a good speaker and gives lot of information. For me it was a pity that she doesn't front the lowpost. Besides that I gained a lot of new insights. Would greatly recommend this DVD to anyone who likes to study this part of the game.
