with Tara VanDerveer, Stanford University Head Women's Coach;
3x NCAA Coach of the Year; 2010 NCAA National Runners-up; 2x NCAA Championship Coach; 5 straight final four appearances (2008-12); 1996 US Women's Olympic Team Head Coach (Gold Medal); distinguished member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (2011)

Hall of Fame Coach Tara VanDerveer shares more than 25 drills that her team uses on a daily basis to enhance confidence and teamwork skills. These techniques, which can be replicated by any coach, show how Coach VanDerveer consistently develops some of the best players in women's college basketball.

Now you can develop a pre-practice and practice routine that challenges and develops players in different ways. VanDerveer uses a variety of offensive and defensive drills that focus on ball handling, shooting, dribbling, offensive moves, passing, closing out, guard development, and post player development. With the help of her lead assistant coach, Coach VanDerveer splits her drills into perimeter and post-player development, and details each drill. Together with on-court demonstrations, you will learn from two of the best coaches college basketball has to offer.

All of Coach VanDerveer's practices start with ball-handling drills. The "Cone Drill" gets players working on individual attacking moves from various spots on the floor. Using cones, chairs, pads and other equipment, players are trained in game situations. The "Jab and Sweep" series teaches players to catch the ball on the perimeter and then attack the defender. 7-5-3-1 and 5-4-3 are great conditioning drills that also allow players to get shots up and then move into a 1-on-1 with a fresh defender. Players are taught how to use the down screens and various reads. The "Stride and Burst Drill" is great for getting players to understand and use change of speeds.

One of Coach VanDerveer's favorite post drills is the "Mikan Circle," which can be used with five or six players working on hook shots. It also has a cardio element to it. "Mirror Passing" and "Mikan Quick Catch" are great for developing the post player's ability to receive the ball.

Give your players the opportunity to be the best they can be. With over 700 career wins and two NCAA championships under her belt, Coach VanDerveer can help you take your players to the next level. Your program will greatly improve from her individual and team concept drills.

I was able to find some great drill for posts. I have four JV kids who have never played high school ball and these drills will help them develop good habits. On another note I had some download issues with this video and Championship Prod. was great in taking care of it for me.

This is a new DVD but pretty much same drills from her other collection of DVDs. The ball handling phase is new, along with the jab series. But everything else is repeating what she has done in previous DVD sets.

Not much to the video. Coach did not even know the drills and states that really one of her assistant coaches does these drills with the team. I found nothing that I would add to what my teams currently do. 1 of the 3 worst videos I have ever purchased
